American Pakistanis also join the fray in U.S. general elections 2024

Many American Pakistanis are also trying their luck in the U.S. general elections 2024 with many competing whether on a Democratic ticket or as a Republican candidate.

Suleman Lalani and Salman Bhojani are in a strong position on the Democratic ticket from Texas.

Ayesha Farooqi is competing from Michigan, while Amir Sultan is a Republican candidate from New York.

Maryam Sabih is a candidate on the Democratic ticket from the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

Additionally, Erin Bashir will be the sole candidate vying for Congress in Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, in Fort Bend County, Texas, near Houston, two Pakistani Americans are competing for the position of constable. The current Democratic officeholder, Nabil Shike, is competing with Republican newcomer Ali Sheikhani.

The 2024 U.S. presidential election is being held with great vigor and enthusiasm on the last day.

Earlier, in the final push for the U.S. presidency, Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump took contrasting approaches.

Harris made her last appeal at a historic Black church in Detroit and to Arab Americans in Michigan, stressing the importance of voter action. "In just two days we have the power to decide the fate of our nation for generations to come," she said, also pledging to end the war in Gaza if elected.

Meanwhile, Trump adopted a provocative tone at a rally in Pennsylvania, criticizing Harris and calling Democrats a "demonic party," while also attacking the media. He commented on media criticism, saying, “To get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news and I don’t mind that so much.”
