Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Saturday that the Sindh government would distribute 500,000 solar systems to deserving residents across the province.
Speaking at the Sindh Solar Energy Project ceremony, he emphasized that the initiative aligns with the PPP chairman's vision of providing relief to underprivileged communities. Shah highlighted that the solarization project, launched in 2012, aimed to shield the masses from the burden of rising electricity costs.
He further explained that the Sindh government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has divided the project into three phases: converting government buildings to solar energy, transitioning schools and hospitals to solar power, and providing solar systems to 200,000 low-income households. Shah vowed to leave no stone unturned in achieving these goals.
Additionally, Shah noted that all deserving individuals in Sindh would be supported under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
He stated that, by 2026, 2.1 million homes would be built to prevent people from suffering during natural disasters like the 2022 floods. Shah also revealed that 15,000 tons of debris collected from Karachi would be used to generate 50KW of electricity.
