Islamabad, 56 Pakistani prisoners, which includes 51 men and 5 women, have been released from Sri Lankan jails today and returned to their homeland.
The efforts and devotion of Federal Ministers Mohsin Naqvi and Abdul Aleem Khan paved the way for this repatriation.
On a specially scheduled flight, the group landed in Pakistan and was greeted with gratitude and emotions. Filled with happiness, the repatriating prisoners conveyed their sincere gratitude to the ministers for helping them to return.
An emotional old lady stated, “Thank you for bringing us back to Pakistan. Your kindness will never be forgotten.” Another prisoner echoed her sentiments, saying, “We are thankful to Mohsin Naqvi and Abdul Aleem Khan for bringing us back home. We were in difficult conditions, but thankfully, we are back.”
Mohsin Naqvi, the federal interior minister, became personally involved in the repatriation process and communicated with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to hasten their release. Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Privatization, graciously paid for all costs associated with the inmates' return in the interim.
Minister Naqvi acknowledged the High Commissioner's and the Sri Lankan government's contributions to the successful return of the prisoners during a press briefing. Additionally, he expressed his appreciation to Minister Khan for his financial assistance during the repatriation process.
The successful operation bears witness to the Pakistani government's commitment to bringing its citizens home, despite the difficulties involved, as the ex-prisoners are reunited with their families.
