A cargo ship carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Iran to Yemen and crewed by Pakistani nationals came under attack, diplomatic sources confirmed.
According to Pakistani diplomatic sources, there are no reports of any Pakistani casualties in the recent attack on a cargo vessel in Yemen.
The sources confirmed that 24 members of the ship’s crew, including the captain, are Pakistani nationals. However, they emphasized that none of them were reported killed in the incident.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and remain in contact with relevant channels to ensure the safety and well-being of the Pakistani crew members on board.
Pakistani diplomatic sources have stated that the government is making every possible effort to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens on board the cargo vessel targeted in Yemen.According to the sources, the ship is currently not located in an area under the control of the Yemeni government. The vessel had departed from Iran’s Bandar Abbas port, transporting LNG to Yemen when it came under attack.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant authorities to secure the safety and swift repatriation of the Pakistani crew members.
Earlier, it is pertinent to mention that earlier, the Pakistani crew members shared a video message stating that the ship was targeted in a drone attack at a Yemeni port 10 days ago.
In the video, the crew appealed for immediate support, saying they were still waiting for assistance from Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Directorate General of Ports.
In the video message, Pakistani crews said that there are Houthi rebels on the ship, Pakistani crews are not being allowed to leave the ship while the ship should be allowed to take Djibouti.
