Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his hope and prayers that the dawn of 2025 brings progress and prosperity for Pakistan.
In his New Year (2025) message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to the nation. He stated, "As the New Year begins, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the entire nation. My prayer is that in this year, we correct the mistakes of our individual and collective lives from the past year and embark on a fresh start towards a bright future."
He added, "I pray that the global economic, political, and security crises of 2024 see positive developments in the New Year. May 2025 prove to be a year of ending hunger, poverty, war, terrorism, crime, sectarianism, and class divisions, not only in Pakistan but across the world."
The Prime Minister emphasized that 2024 was a year of remarkable achievements for Pakistan. "During 2024, our economic indicators improved, international financial institutions expressed their confidence in Pakistan, and agreements for billions of rupees in investments were signed with friendly and brotherly nations. Furthermore, work commenced on the digitization of the economy," he noted.
He also highlighted the formal launch of the National Economic Transformation Plan, "Uraan Pakistan" (Pakistan's Flight). He stated, "Uraan Pakistan reflects my government's commitment to giving the economy a new direction, promoting inclusive growth, and achieving sustainable development."
The Prime Minister expressed his thoughts as the nation stepped into 2025, emphasizing a commitment to a stable, bright, and prosperous future. "Now that we have entered 2025 and placed the economy on the track of self-reliance, let us resolve today to work towards a stable, bright, and prosperous future," he said.
Reflecting on the global challenges of the past year, he remarked, "The year 2024 was the worst in terms of Israeli atrocities in Palestine. The occupying Israeli forces committed unparalleled acts of oppression, the likes of which recent history has not seen. Similarly, our oppressed brothers and sisters in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir continued to suffer under the brutalities of Indian occupying forces. I hope that 2025 will bring success to the struggles for freedom in Palestine and Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir."
Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the bravery of Pakistan’s security forces, stating, "In 2024, our courageous security forces achieved significant victories against terrorists. In this war against terrorism, the brave soldiers of our security forces embraced martyrdom, and their sacrifices will forever be remembered by the nation."
He urged the nation to make a pledge at the start of the new year, saying, "Let us promise that we will spare no sacrifice to transform this country into the Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. This country is a trust left to us by our ancestors. We will protect it and contribute to its progress with all our efforts." Concluding, he expressed his prayers and hope, saying, "I pray that 2025 brings immense fortune and joy to our nation."
