LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared its intention to forge an alliance with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) both at the federal level and in Punjab.
Raoof Hasan, the PTI spokesperson, announced in a press conference that the party's founder has instructed the formation of an alliance with the MWM in both the federal and Punjab arenas.
Additionally, he mentioned that the PTI founder has approved a proposal for collaboration with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It's worth noting that PTI-backed candidates will not be eligible for reserved seats for women and minorities under their independent status.
According to electoral regulations, reserved seats are allocated to parties based on lists submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan prior to general elections.
PTI-supported independents secured 93 and 112 seats in the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly respectively. They also triumphed in 83 seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Earlier in the day, former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan dismissed any prospect of negotiations with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for government formation.
Speaking informally to the media from Adiala Jail, where he is detained in connection with cases related to Toshakhana, Cipher, and an illegal nikah, the PTI founder stated that his party would not engage in talks with PML-N, PPP, and MQM-P regarding government formation.
However, he instructed party leaders to initiate discussions with other parties, excluding the aforementioned three.
Moreover, the PTI founder appointed Ali Amin Gandapur as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during his informal media interaction in Adiala Jail.
"I have designated Ali Amin Gandapur as KP CM, although there is no consensus on the name for the premiership yet," quoted the PTI founder.
