ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General (R) Nauman Mahmood has been appointed the first secretary-general under the Makkah Defence Pact, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
According to the ministry, Mahmood will lead the general secretariat of the alliance, which will be based in Riyadh.
The Makkah Joint Defense Pact is a trilateral defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.
Under the agreement, an attack on any one of the three countries is considered an attack on all three.
