PM Shehbaz Sharif vows to provide ICT training programs for youth

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a review meeting on ICT training programs for youth.

A delegation from Huawei Technologies attended the meeting to discuss strategies for equipping young people with advanced digital skills. The session also assessed the progress of agreements made last year in China with Huawei Technologies.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the vital role of youth in advancing technology and driving digital transformation. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting young individuals by offering modern ICT training programs and expertise.

The Huawei delegation expressed their commitment to launching advanced training programs in Pakistan, with a goal of training 300,000 individuals online across all provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz instructed the swift implementation of IT training initiatives and stressed the need to expand these programs nationwide for broader inclusion.

This meeting followed the recent approval of the National Youth Employment Plan, aimed at providing market-driven training programs to empower Pakistan’s youth.

During a review session on Thursday, PM Shehbaz approved a strategy to offer industry-specific training to young people. The plan outlines training and employment opportunities through various institutions over the next four years.

Under this initiative, between 2.4 million and 6 million youth will receive training annually to enhance employment prospects. Additionally, the Digital Youth Hub is set to launch this month, providing a dedicated platform for youth development and job opportunities.
