Celebrating decades of musical excellence, country music icon Vince Gill was presented with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the CMA Awards, recognizing his extraordinary contributions to the genre.
The evening featured a heartfelt tribute, with Brandi Carlile and Patty Loveless performing Gill’s signature hit “When I Call Your Name,” highlighting the enduring impact of his music.
Presenting the award, country legend George Strait said, “There is no one more deserving of this honor, which bears the name of the true icon, Mr. Willie Nelson.”
In his acceptance speech, Gill mixed humor with gratitude: “It’s amazing that the ladies had to sing tonight because none of the guys can hit those notes. This moment is incredible, and being on the list of past recipients is humbling.” He thanked his management, family, and friends, and addressed Willie Nelson: “Willie, at 92, you continue to inspire us all. God bless you.”

His breakthrough came with the 1990 hit “When I Call Your Name,” followed by the quadruple-platinum album “I Still Believe in You” in 1992.
Over his career, he has released 20 albums, sold over 30 million records, charted 45 singles, won 18 CMA Awards, 22 Grammys, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
Gill has hosted the CMA Awards from 1992 to 2003 and continues to perform, including with the Eagles in Las Vegas. In October 2025, he released the EP “I Gave You Everything I Had.”
The 59th annual CMA Awards were held at Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, broadcast live on ABC, and hosted by Lainey Wilson, celebrating the biggest names and enduring legends of country music, with Gill’s lifetime achievement award standing out as a highlight of the evening.
