KARACHI: Pakistani television and film actor Humayun Ashraf has spoken about the trend of women in society showing a preference for wealthy men.
Known for his versatile acting and stellar performances, Humayun Ashraf has earned a prominent place in the entertainment industry, appearing in numerous successful drama serials. In a recent interview, he shared his perspective on women prioritizing financially stable men when it comes to relationships and marriage.
He remarked, “These days, love has become tied to materialism. It is now based on calculation and practical thinking and that’s perfectly fine. Today’s love is built on material foundations, and marrying someone stable is a realistic approach. There’s nothing wrong with it. If I don’t have money, anyone can reject me and that’s how it should be.”
He added that he finds it fair for a woman to be selective based on a man's financial standing, drawing a parallel to his own experiences. "If I didn't have money, anyone could reject me, and that should be the case. If a girl were to reject me solely because of money, I wouldn't feel bad, because that's her way of thinking," he explained.
He also weighed in on modern relationship etiquette during a "green flag, red flag" segment. Ashraf shared his belief that a major red flag is when couples post pictures of their partners on social media. He advised that it's best to keep a relationship private and not reveal it to the public until it's permanent. On the other hand, he highlighted a key green flag for a healthy relationship: not checking your partner's phone, calling it a matter of good manners and trust.
