Karachi: The Pakistani showbiz industry is commemorating the 20th death anniversary of the renowned comedian and versatile actor, Jamshed Ansari. Though two decades have passed since his passing, he remains a beloved figure in the hearts of his fans.
Born on December 31, 1942, in Saharanpur, India, Ansari migrated with his family to Karachi at a young age. He started his career in television dramas and quickly gained recognition for his unique comedic timing and sharp wit. His debut drama, "Jharokay", received widespread acclaim.
While Jamshed Ansari excelled in comedy and became known for his distinctive style, he was also a capable dramatic actor who took on serious roles throughout his career. He showcased his acting prowess in around 200 television dramas and films, carving out a special place for himself in the industry. Some of his most famous works include "Uncle Urfi", "Tanhaiyaan", "Zer Zabar Pesh", "Manzilain", and "Afshan".
His exceptional talent was recognized with 55 national awards and 2 international awards during his career.
Jamshed Ansari passed away on August 24, 2005, at the age of 63, after a prolonged illness caused by a brain tumor. His funeral prayers were held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, before he was laid to rest at Khurshidpura Graveyard in Hub, Balochistan.
His work continues to be admired and celebrated by people who remember his contributions to Pakistani entertainment.
