On Thursday, the city registered a low of 32.5 degrees Celsius, with temperatures expected to peak at 39 degrees Celsius. The humidity is currently at 75%, making the heat index feel closer to 40 degrees Celsius. The combination of heat and humidity is making conditions particularly uncomfortable.
At present, the temperature in the city is 34 degrees Celsius, with winds blowing at 10 kilometers per hour as reported by the Meteorological Department. The lack of sea breezes has heightened the sensation of heat and humidity, adding to the discomfort for residents.
The department has indicated that sea breezes are expected to resume in the evening, potentially offering some relief from the stifling heat. Additionally, light rain is predicted in Karachi's suburbs today, which could provide temporary respite from the high temperatures.
Earlier reports suggested daytime temperatures in Karachi could range between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels around 65%. The suspension of sea breezes was anticipated to push the heat index up to 40 degrees.
While the city experiences intense heat, there's a chance of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in certain areas.
Monsoon winds are advancing towards Sindh, which could bring relief, especially in rural areas. Westerly winds are also expected on Thursday and Friday, potentially influencing the weather patterns.
