Islamabad, A major development emerged concerning the 26th Constitutional Amendment when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stepped back from their proposal to establish constitutional courts.
Sources indicate that during a special parliamentary committee meeting, government coalition parties and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) reached an agreement on creating a constitutional bench.
Parliamentary sources also mentioned that the government and JUI plan to consult with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on a collaborative draft, which Maulana Fazlur Rehman will present to the PTI leadership.
Along with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar and other leaders after an important meeting at Jati Umrah in Lahore on Wednesday, Maulana Fazl said that they were moving forward with consensus.
Fazl said that he would also meet the PTI leadership in Islamabad tomorrow (Thursday) to create consensus on the issue.
Bilawal Bhutto on the occasion said that they were working to provide justice to the people of Pakistan. They hope that they would go towards presenting the amendment soon after consultation, he said.
Ishaq Dar said that the three parties have reached a consensus on judicial reform. He said that this would provide swift and transparent justice to the people.
