Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has voiced concerns over recent legal changes in Pakistan, stating that they have intensified political turmoil and increased public hardships.
He criticized the government for prioritizing political maneuvering over restoring peace and addressing pressing issues faced by the public. Speaking to the media, Fazl ur Rehman highlighted the implications of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, claiming it has undermined human rights and facilitated unchecked legislation.
“The amendment has made people in our own country appear suspicious to the world,” he remarked, condemning the lack of transparency and accountability. He also discussed changes to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law, stating that removing a controversial clause presuming every citizen guilty by default was a positive step.
Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) call for a November 24 protest, Fazl ur Rehman questioned the motives behind the demonstrations, emphasizing the suffering of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also highlighted the worsening security in Balochistan, warning that the government’s authority in the region is deteriorating and urging sustainable measures to address the unrest.
