DHAKA: The death toll from the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash has risen to 27 after the plane crashed into a high school campus.
According to officials, the F-7 training jet crashed yesterday, killing 25 students and the pilot.
Authorities further stated that around 170 people were injured in the incident, a majority of them students aged between 12 and 16.
A military spokesman said the plane caused a technical malfunction immediately after the take -off, the pilot tried to take the aircraft away from the population but it did not succeed.
Bangladeshi officials said a committee has been set up at the official level to investigate the accident.
Earlier, at least 19 people have been killed after a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a school and college campus in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The incident occurred at 1:06 PM local time when the aircraft took off for a routine training flight but crashed into a college building in the Uttara area of Dhaka. The crash led to a massive fire and caused significant structural damage to the building.
While initial reports claim 19 fatalities, local media have officially confirmed one death so far. Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and launched emergency response operations.
