The legal notice alleges that clips from Chandramukhi were included in the documentary without prior authorization. According to actor and industry insider Chitra Lakshmanan, “The Chandramukhi makers are displeased with the inclusion of certain scenes from the film in the documentary. They claim these clips were used without obtaining proper authorisation and have now sought legal recourse.”

Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale offers a glimpse into the actress's love story and her opulent 2022 wedding to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan in Mahabalipuram. The documentary also features snippets from her iconic films, including Chandramukhi.
This isn’t the first legal challenge for the documentary. Previously, actor-producer Dhanush sent a notice over the unauthorized use of clips from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. At the time, Nayanthara dismissed his claims with a bold social media statement.
