As of August 1, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs 2.27 per kilogram, setting the new rate at Rs 236.99 per kilogram.
This change affects households nationwide that rely on LPG for cooking and heating. Consequently, the price of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder has risen by Rs 26.90, now costing Rs 2,796.56.
This hike follows OGRA’s periodic adjustments to align domestic prices with international market rates.
However, the frequency and magnitude of these increases have drawn criticism for adding to household expenses amid rising inflation and economic challenges. OGRA defends the price adjustments as necessary for supply chain stability and covering import and distribution costs.
