Lahore: In a brave and decisive operation, Punjab Police successfully repelled another attack by Khawarij terrorists near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border.
According to a police spokesperson, the assailants launched an attack on the Lakhaani border checkpoint, making it the second terrorist attack in the past 24 hours and the third major attack in a week.
The spokesperson revealed that around 20 to 25 heavily armed terrorists, equipped with rocket launchers and other advanced weaponry, targeted the checkpoint.
However, thermal imaging cameras enabled the timely detection of the assailants, allowing police personnel to mount a swift counterattack. As a result, the terrorists were forced to retreat, reportedly suffering heavy casualties.
The spokesperson further stated that RPO Dera Ghazi Khan, Captain (Retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan, led the operation, while DPO Dera Ghazi Khan, Syed Ali, commanded the Quick Response Force (QRF) teams, ensuring a prompt and effective response.
DPO Dera Ghazi Khan, Syed Ali, reaffirmed that cowardly attacks by Khawarij terrorists would not shake their resolve. He emphasized that Punjab Police remains committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens at all costs and is fully prepared to confront terrorists.
Meanwhile, RPO Captain (Retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan stated that the morale of the police force remains high, and every terrorist attack will be thwarted.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab also commended the bravery of the police in Dera Ghazi Khan, stating, "Our courageous officers are continuously fighting against Khawarij terrorists and will not allow them to infiltrate Punjab. Every officer of Punjab Police stands firm against terrorism, and we will not let the enemy succeed in their nefarious plans. Our forces remain vigilant at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border and will take every necessary step to protect the people."
According to a police spokesperson, search operations are ongoing in the border areas in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.
