Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Leh Apex Body (LAB) shut down both Kargil and Leh districts in protest against the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk and others.

Prominent environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk had launched the 'Delhi Chalo movement' from Leh a month ago to advocate for sixth schedule status for Ladakh. Top Ladakhi leaders were also under the arrest.
Notable leaders like KDA Co-Chairman Asghar Ali Karbalai and Chief Executive Councilor of LAHDC Mohammad Jafar Akhun were also among those detained.
