LARKANA: In a scathing critique of the PTI-led opposition alliance, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has accused them of plotting against the country under the guise of alleging election rigging.
Bilawal made these comments during a public gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana, on Sunday, commemorating the 45th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He emphasized that many forces historically opposed democracy and conspired against it, but President Asif Ali Zardari thwarted their schemes.
Alluding to the current six-party opposition alliance, Bilawal mentioned that some politicians are still attempting a sequel to the Pakistan National Alliance (PNA) by launching PNA-II.
Without explicitly naming Imran Khan, Bilawal criticized certain politicians who prioritize personal ego over the welfare of the nation and its people.
He accused them of undermining the country and its economy by alleging electoral rigging.
Bilawal's remarks followed the launch of a protest movement by the PTI-led opposition alliance, which includes the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP), Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), against alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections.
Highlighting the importance of national reconciliation to overcome the crisis, Bilawal stressed that progress cannot be achieved through abusive politics and urged politicians to operate within the bounds of the Constitution.
He cautioned that if democracy derails, the masses will be the first to suffer, emphasizing that politicians must prioritize leading the country out of crisis.
Meanwhile, PPP co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari pledged ongoing support to the government for economic stability and prosperity.
During the public gathering, Zardari expressed confidence in leveraging Pakistan's abundant mineral and natural resources to emerge from the economic crisis.
He paid tribute to the Bhutto family's legacy of sacrificing for the country and thanked the electorate for their trust in PPP during the general elections.
