The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is celebrating its 58th Foundation Day today with energy and enthusiasm across the country.
Festivities are being held at the district level, while a major central rally is planned in Korangi, Karachi, where Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other prominent federal and provincial leaders will address the gathering.
The preparations for the Korangi event are complete, and PPP flags are visible across the city, reflecting the party’s widespread support.
Founded on November 30, 1967, in Lahore, the PPP elected Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as its first chairman. Its iconic slogan, “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” (Food, Clothing, and Shelter), struck a chord with the masses, helping the party secure a historic victory in West Pakistan during the 1970 general elections.
Over nearly six decades, the PPP has achieved several landmark milestones, including the restoration of democracy, enactment of a consensus-based constitution, establishment of Pakistan’s nuclear program, promotion of provincial autonomy, and implementation of key social reforms.
The party’s resilience in the face of authoritarian regimes and its unwavering commitment to citizens’ rights have been central to its enduring political legacy.
