PESHAWAR: After 28 years, the body of a man who went missing in a snowstorm was recovered from a melting glacier and laid to rest in Kohistan.
The deceased, identified as Naseeruddin, had gone missing while returning home from the Supat Valley to his village in the Allai region, along with his horse, when he was caught in a snowstorm.
On Saturday, as a glacier began to melt in the Palas area of Kohistan, Naseeruddin’s body was discovered in remarkably preserved condition. His clothes and waistcoat were intact, and his identity was confirmed through a national identity card found in his pocket.
His brother, who received the body of Naseeruddin, said his brother was leaving the area from Kohistan in June 1997 due to family enmity, where he disappeared after being hit by a glacier.
He said the family had lost all hope of finding his brother alive or dead, but discovering Naseeruddin’s body intact after 28 years was nothing short of unbelievable for them.
