Researchers also found that these drugs may help reduce harmful inflammation in the body a major factor linked to serious illnesses such as cancer, dementia and heart disease. The results suggest that the medications could have broader health impacts than previously believed.
The American Kidney Fund has also stated that GLP-1 drugs may slow the progression of kidney disease and reduce the risk of kidney failure in some patients.
Meanwhile, a study conducted by King's College London found that semaglutide the main ingredient used in Ozempic and Wegovy was effective in treating liver disease in nearly two-thirds of patients.
