Pakistan's automotive industry continues to face challenges with high prices and low sales. However, recent months have seen a welcome trend of price reductions from major players like Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, and Kia.
Toyota, Honda, Kia, and Suzuki have collectively slashed prices by up to 25 percent. Lucky Motors made the most substantial cut, reducing the price of its KIA Stonic by a staggering Rs1.5 million. Following suit, Suzuki reduced the price of its Swift GLX CVT by Rs710,000.
Previously, Toyota Yaris and Honda City prices were also reduced, making these models more accessible to consumers. Despite these reductions, several factors, including sales tax, contribute to the overall price adjustments.
Here's a breakdown of the major price drops witnessed in Pakistan's auto market in 2024:
- KIA Stonic: Price reduced from Rs6.4 million to Rs4.7 million, a decrease of Rs1.5 million.
- Suzuki Swift: Price lowered from Rs5.4 million to Rs4.7 million, a reduction of Rs710,000.
- Toyota Yaris: reduced from Rs 4.89 million to Rs 4.76 million, a decrease of Rs 133,000.
- Honda City: Price cut from Rs4.8 million to Rs4.68 million, a reduction of Rs140,000.
- Cherry Tiggo 8 Pro: Price dropped from Rs10.3 million to Rs9.5 million, a decrease of Rs850,000.
- Peugeot 2008: reduced from Rs7.7 million to Rs7.25 million, a decrease of Rs450,000.
With more accessible prices, consumers can expect to see increased activity in Pakistan's auto market in the coming months.
