Changan Oshan X7 Price Slashed By PKR 400,000

Here's more good news for those eagerly anticipating price reductions that hadn't occurred in previous years. Following Kia Lucky Motors, Peugeot Pakistan, and Pakistan Suzuki, Changan has also lowered the price of its popular crossover SUV, the 'Oshan X7,' but only for a limited time, from May 4 to June 15, 2024.

In October 2023, Changan Pakistan reduced the price of its car by Rs. 250,000. This marks the fourth price reduction announced within a week, adding to the ongoing series of sudden price drops.

New Prices of the Oshan X7

• The Changan Oshan X7 Comfort variant will now cost Rs. 7,999,000 against the old price of Rs. 8,299,000. The price has been reduced by Rs. 250,000.
• The price of the Oshan X7 FutureSense has also decreased by Rs. 400,000, taking the car’s price to Rs. 8,549,000 from the old price of Rs. 8,949,000.

Massive Price Drop

Recently, car prices have witnessed a notable decrease, starting with Kia's reduction of over Rs. 15 lacs for the Stonic, followed by the Peugeot 2008's Rs. 4.5 lacs reduction, and the Suzuki Swift's decrease of Rs. 7.1 lacs. This sequence of events is indeed intriguing.

The Reason

The Stonic experiences a 24% decrease, the Swift by 13%, the Yaris by 1.3 CVT, and the City CVT by 3%. The new prices range from Rs. 4.69M to Rs. 4.77M, significantly lower than the pre-revision rates of Rs. 4.83M to Rs. 6.28M.

This significant adjustment reflects a strategy to maintain prices below Rs. 4 million without GST, driven by the high 25% GST on cars. Kia initiated this by reducing the Stonic's price, targeting the sub-Rs. 4 million bracket without GST, a strategy also adopted by Suzuki with the new pricing of the Swift. Ultimately, companies are navigating to avoid the new GST slab, inadvertently benefiting consumers.
