In a dominant display at the Guwahati Test, South Africa defeated India by an enormous 408-run margin, securing the two-match Test series 2-0. This victory marks South Africa’s first Test series win on Indian soil in 25 years.
Chasing a daunting target of 549 runs in the second innings, India was restricted to just 140 runs thanks to an exceptional bowling performance by the Proteas.
Bavuma’s leadership during this campaign has earned him a remarkable milestone: he has now captained South Africa in 12 Test matches, achieving 11 victories and one draw, remaining unbeaten throughout. Under his captaincy, no team has yet managed to defeat South Africa in a Test match.
This achievement surpasses the previous record held by former England captain Mike Brearley, who remained undefeated in 15 Tests with 10 wins.
