ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed concern over reported ceasefire violations in conflict-affected areas, stating that such breaches undermine the spirit of the ongoing peace process.
In a statement posted on X, the Prime Minister urged all parties to exercise restraint and respect the two-week ceasefire to allow diplomatic efforts to advance and pave the way for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Sharif emphasized that these violations risk derailing the progress made so far and called on all sides to uphold the temporary ceasefire.
He also tagged U.S. and Iranian leadership in his post, highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing role in facilitating dialogue between the parties.
Earlier, federal government has decided to observe a national Day of Thanksgiving next Friday to celebrate the successful two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, facilitated in part by Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
In a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, ministers praised Pakistan’s role in mediating the agreement.
Prime Minister Sharif briefed the cabinet on the country’s contributions and highlighted the key roles played by Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in facilitating the ceasefire.
The Prime Minister noted that Field Marshal Asim Munir maintained constant contact with US and Iranian leadership, working tirelessly through nights, while Ishaq Dar also provided critical support.
He expressed gratitude to all political and military leadership, emphasizing the unity and coordination that made Pakistan’s role possible.
