QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti said law enforcement agencies have foiled a major terrorist plot targeting Islamabad and arrested a female suicide bomber in Balochistan.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Bugti said security agencies acted in time to thwart what he described as a large-scale terrorist plan.
He alleged that militants were running a training camp where women were blackmailed through “honey traps” and coerced into carrying out terrorist attacks.
According to the chief minister, intelligence agencies conducted swift operations, arrested the suspects, and prevented an attack that was allegedly planned in Islamabad.
Bugti said the group was attempting to use women and underage girls as suicide bombers, calling the practice disgraceful and contrary to Baloch traditions.
He further claimed that terrorist organizations were acting on the agenda of foreign agencies and were involved in proxy activities in Balochistan.
The chief minister said one young girl was being prepared for an attack in Islamabad and that militants had threatened to kill her family if she refused to carry out the bombing.
The detained woman said her cousin allegedly forced her to work for the Balochistan Liberation Army and threatened to kill her father if she did not comply. She said she was indoctrinated for a suicide mission.
She added that police treated her respectfully after taking her into custody and that she now hopes to continue her education and build a better future.
