On Saturday, international reactions surged after Hamas expressed a positive response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal aimed at freeing Israeli hostages in Gaza and bringing an end to the nearly two-year-long conflict.
United Nations: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed a recent statement by Hamas in response to the Trump peace plan, describing it as an encouraging step toward resolving the ongoing Gaza conflict. Guterres called on all parties involved to seize this opportunity to bring lasting peace to the region.
Qatar: Qatar has played a proactive role by initiating contacts with Egypt and the United States aimed at ending the war in Gaza. Egyptian officials have expressed optimism, stating that positive progress is expected following Hamas’s statement. Egypt’s Foreign Ministry emphasized ongoing cooperation with the US, Arab, and European nations to work towards a permanent ceasefire.
“After Hamas’s response, all parties will be able to move forward in implementing President Trump’s Gaza plan,” Egypt declared, signaling renewed hope for diplomatic breakthroughs.
France:
Meanwhile, French President urged immediate action to capitalize on Hamas’s commitment. “Now is an opportunity for decisive progress toward peace,” the President said, affirming France’s intention to collaborate closely with the US and international partners to support efforts in securing a durable ceasefire.
Israel: “In light of Hamas’s response, Israel is preparing for the immediate implementation of the first stage of the Trump plan for the release of all the hostages,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said.
“We will continue to work in full cooperation with the President and his team to end the war in accordance with the principles set out by Israel, which align with President Trump’s vision,” the statement added.
India: “We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress. Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a post on X.

Egypt: Egypt said it hoped “this positive development will lead all parties to rise to the level of responsibility by committing to implementing President Trump’s plan on the ground and end the war”.
Germany: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the plan represented “the best chance for peace” in the conflict and that Germany “fully supports” Trump’s “call upon both sides”.
Britain: Britain’s Keir Starmer called Hamas’s acceptance “a significant step forwards” and urged all sides “to implement the agreement without delay”.
Turkiye:
Turkiye’s foreign ministry said the Palestinian group’s response “provides an opportunity for the immediate establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza”.
