Veteran Pakistani host and actor Tausiq Haider has spoken out against the hypocritical societal treatment of unmarried men and women.
During a recent podcast appearance, the host shed light on various social double standards. "I've noticed that when a man doesn't get married, the impression given is that he chose not to marry, whereas for women, the impression is that they couldn't get married," Tausiq Haider stated.
He elaborated on the linguistic differences, explaining, "For men, the words used are 'he didn't marry,' while for women, it's said 'she didn't get married.'" Haider challenged this perception, questioning, "A man didn't marry, and a woman couldn't? It's possible that the man couldn't get married."
Tausiq Haider also shared a personal anecdote. "Has anyone ever asked me about my sorrow? Maybe I couldn't get married," he posed, highlighting the unspoken struggles of men. "Similarly, it's possible that women chose not to marry, but they are often made to feel like victims."
The senior actor revealed his own experience, stating, "In my time, I searched for someone, but I couldn't get married to them. Afterwards, I focused on my career."
He emphasized that marriage should not be pursued out of fear of aging. Instead, he stressed that one should marry "at the right time and with the person who makes you feel that life would be incomplete without them."
