KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) unveiled potential designs for new currency notes across all denominations on Thursday.
These designs were selected from entries submitted by citizens during an art competition organized by the SBP.
In a statement, the SBP expressed satisfaction with the completion of the art competition, praising the creativity and talent of local artists and designers who contributed.
The shortlisted designs were chosen following a thorough evaluation by a panel of experts in relevant fields.
The SBP clarified that the shortlisted designs are preliminary and have been shared with international designers, who will collaborate with the central bank to finalize the new banknote series.
The SBP emphasized that the new notes will embody the country's rich cultural heritage and forward-thinking vision, and it hopes the final designs will reflect the collective effort.
As previously announced, winners of the competition will be awarded prize money in recognition of their contributions. While international designers will draw inspiration from the local submissions, they will have the freedom to use their own expertise and creativity in finalizing the designs for the new currency series, the SBP added.
