ISLAMABAD: A recent survey by Ipsos (a multinational market research and consulting firm) indicates a notable surge in public confidence regarding government policies and the nation's economic path. The findings show that Pakistanis' trust in the country's direction and economy has reached its highest point in six years.
According to the survey results, 42 percent of Pakistanis now believe the country is headed in the right direction. This marks a significant shift, as the percentage of those who felt the direction was wrong dropped by 21 points, settling at 58 percent. Interestingly, Ipsos highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa showed the strongest belief, with 48 percent of its residents confident in the country's trajectory.
The survey also brought good news for the economy, with optimism growing significantly. The percentage of people who see the economy as strong climbed by 9 points to 29 percent. For the first time, the number of Pakistanis feeling positive about the nation's economic future now outweighs those who are pessimistic.
While concerns about inflation, unemployment, and poverty have decreased, the survey did pinpoint growing worries among Pakistanis. Issues like electricity load shedding and rising taxes were cited as increasing concerns. This suggests that despite a broader sense of confidence, specific household challenges remain a key focus for many citizens.
