Her husband, Gareth Brisbane, conveyed the heartrending announcement on 24 March, revealing that she “passed away peacefully today, enveloped by love.”

Diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023, Mel faced her illness with extraordinary fortitude and grace, even as it metastasized to her brain.

In her final moments when her voice had nearly been silenced by the disease, she summoned her remaining strength to whisper a poignant message to her daughter, Maddie, and her husband an intimate testament of love and resilience that Gareth said he will cherish eternally.

Commencing her public journey at the age of 42, Mel swiftly became an adored figure, renowned for her empathy, sagacity, and unwavering devotion to helping others navigate the labyrinth of human relationships.
