ISLAMABAD: The government notified an increase in salaries and pensions for employees on Wednesday, as announced in the recently-released Budget 2024-25.
According to the Finance Division's notification, government employees up to grade-16 will receive a 25% increase in their adhoc relief allowance. For officials in grades 17 to 22, the allowance has been increased by 20%.
Additionally, a 15% increase in pensions for federal employees, proposed in the Budget 2024, has been confirmed.
The Finance Division's notification stated: “The President has sanctioned an Adhoc Relief Allowance 2024 for all federal government employees, including armed forces personnel, civil armed forces, and civil employees of the federal government, as well as civilians paid from defense estimates, contingent staff, and contract employees on standard terms and conditions of contract appointment.”
The allowance is subject to income tax and will be provided during regular offs and leaves preparatory to retirement, but not during 'extraordinary' leaves.
It will not be considered in the calculation of pension, gratuity, and house rent, nor will it be given during the deputation of employees abroad. However, employees will start receiving the allowance again upon returning and being appointed to their respective departments.
