A new electric SUV with a range of over 1,100 kilometers is about to enter the Pakistani auto market and could be a game-changer.
The Forthing REEV, which will be introduced by Capital Smart Motors, has a total claimed range of 1,150 kilometers. However, this includes around 600 kilometers of electric-only range, while the remaining 550 kilometers come from a range-extending system.
A range-extended electric vehicle, or REEV, mainly runs on electricity stored in its battery, but it also has a small internal combustion engine that acts as a generator to recharge the battery when it’s low. This makes it different from regular electric cars and allows it to travel longer distances without relying only on charging stations.

Forthing is a brand of passenger vehicles made by Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, which is a part of Dongfeng Motor Group in China. The vehicle is expected to officially launch in Pakistan around the middle of this month, with more information likely to be revealed soon.
