New York: Pakistan strongly denounces the recent Israeli military strikes on Syria and urges adherence to international law and respect for Syrian sovereignty.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, conveyed the country’s stance in a statement regarding the ongoing situation in Syria. He described Israel’s actions as reckless and highlighted that such violations have escalated due to the lack of accountability.
Iftikhar emphasized that Israel’s repeated breaches undermine the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and threaten regional stability. He pointed out that these aggressive moves are aimed at destabilizing the region further.
Despite these challenges, Iftikhar noted positive developments within Syria, mentioning that after years of turmoil, there is renewed hope for peace, dignity, and reconstruction among the Syrian populace. He observed that political and economic contacts are gradually improving, signaling progress toward stability.
Furthermore, he highlighted that significant sanctions have been eased, providing economic relief and fostering recovery. The Syrian government has also reiterated its commitment to establishing peaceful relations with neighboring countries.
