Lebanon’s health ministry reported that an Israeli strike on a central Beirut building early Saturday claimed 11 lives and injured 63 people, with the death toll expected to rise as rescue operations continued.
“The Israeli strike on Basta al-Fawqa in Beirut resulted in 11 fatalities, including numerous body parts still being identified. The final count will be confirmed following DNA testing,” the ministry stated. It also noted that 63 individuals were injured, and rescuers were working to clear the debris.
According to Lebanese state media, five Israeli missiles targeted a residential building in central Beirut on Saturday.
“The capital, Beirut, witnessed a devastating massacre as Israeli airstrikes completely destroyed an eight-story residential building on Al-Mamoun Street in the Basta area,” the National News Agency reported.
These strikes followed intense bombardment in southern Beirut on Friday as Israel continued its campaign against Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group.
On Friday, airstrikes flattened an 11-story building in southern Beirut, while Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon reportedly killed five paramedics, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
