ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight with a small delegation, according to government sources.
Sources said that the Iranian delegation is likely to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the visit, with senior military leadership also expected to be present in the high-level meeting.
Officials added that discussions are likely to focus on regional developments and ongoing diplomatic engagements involving multiple stakeholders.
Meanwhile, sources further indicated that a United States delegation is also expected to arrive by tomorrow, as part of the broader diplomatic contacts being facilitated through backchannel and official channels.
However, no official confirmation has yet been issued regarding the final schedule of the visits.
Earlier, Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar to discuss the evolving regional situation and ceasefire-related matters.
According to Iranian media reports, the discussions focused on ongoing developments in the region and efforts aimed at maintaining and strengthening the ceasefire.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office of Pakistan also confirmed the call between the two foreign ministers, stating that both sides exchanged views on regional dynamics and ceasefire progress between Pakistan and Iran.
