LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted further episodes of rainfall of varying intensities and gusty winds in Lahore and parts of Punjab from Friday evening through Sunday.
According to the PMD, monsoon currents originating from the Arabian Sea will affect the upper and central regions of Pakistan, while a westerly wave will impact the northern parts of the country.
In light of these weather conditions, more heavy rains are expected in scattered areas including Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanpur, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Kot Addu from Friday evening onwards and through the weekend. Isolated areas may experience heavy rainfall during this period as well.
Lahore is expected to see maximum temperatures ranging between 36-38°C on Saturday and 35-37°C on Sunday.
Recent rainfall varied in intensity across Lahore and parts of Punjab over the past 24 hours.
Rainfall measurements were recorded as follows: Lahore (Tajpura 120mm, Lakshmi Chowk 81mm, Qurtaba Chowk 70mm, Gulshan-e-Ravi 68mm, AP 59mm, Shahi Qila 58mm, Mughalpura 53mm, Upper Mall 50mm, Samanabad 49mm, Chowk Nakhuda 48mm, Iqbal Town 44mm, Head office Wasa 41mm, Nishter Town 40mm, City 39mm, Farrukhabad 35mm, Johar Town 22mm), Rawalpindi (Chaklala AP 30mm, Kacheri 11mm, Shamsabad 09mm), Islamabad (Saidpur 17mm, Golra 16mm, Bokra, Zero point 08mm), Kasur 08mm, Murree 02mm.
Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan recorded the highest temperatures in the province, reaching 41°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature recorded was 40°C, with relative humidity reaching 78% during the evening.
