Police arrest Tiktoker Sana Yousuf’s murderer

An unknown assailant tragically killed 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousuf at her home in Islamabad’s G-13 sector. Her murder shocked the entire nation, as the attacker targeted and killed her inside the supposed safety of her own home. The incident sparked a massive uproar in both mainstream and social media, with people raising their voices against the rising cases of femicide.

IG Islamabad held a press conference today and spoke about the murder case following the arrest of the assailant, Umer Hayat. Police arrested Umer from Jaranwala, Faisalabad. The IG revealed that Umer attacked Sana Yousuf at her home. He arrived on a motorbike, entered her house, and shot her twice. After the attack, he fled the scene on the same bike and took Sana’s phone with him.

IG Islamabad further explained that “the man wanted to befriend Sana Yosuf and kept contacting her through her social media. She repeatedly rejected his advances, which he could not take. The officer said that the police have named this case “The Case of Repeated Rejection”. On 29th May, which was Sana’s birthday, the man reached her house and tried to meet her. She rejected him once again and never met him. He tried to meet her once again on 2nd June, and he was rejected again. Then he planned to murder her, broke into her house, and shot her.”

Police confiscated the murder weapon, a pistol, along with Sana Yousuf’s phone from the suspect. During his arrest, Umer Hayat confessed to committing the crime. Investigators used CCTV footage to track him down and formed seven dedicated teams to ensure his swift capture. He comes from a middle-class background and is the son of a retired Grade 16 government officer. IG Islamabad explained how the police raided multiple locations to apprehend him.
