After months of discontinuation, Elon Musk's platform, X (formerly Twitter), is set to resume operations in Brazil. The decision follows a ruling by Brazil’s Supreme Court, which sided with Musk’s company, ending a prolonged conflict between the platform and the Brazilian government.
According to TechCrunch, citing a Bloomberg report, Musk agreed to comply with Brazil’s terms, which included cracking down on specific accounts and appointing a legal representative in the country. These measures allowed X to be unblocked after the Brazilian government had ordered internet service providers (ISPs) to restrict access to the platform nationwide.
The initial ban occurred after Musk refused to take down certain user accounts as requested by the Brazilian authorities. Additionally, the platform had been operating without a legal representative in Brazil, leading to the extended blockage.
Despite making concessions, Musk publicly criticized the Brazilian Supreme Court, accusing it of censoring right-wing viewpoints, an issue he has frequently discussed globally.
