The decision came after the 26th WBCC meeting, held in Multan, where representatives from seven countries participated in person, and officials from India, England, and New Zealand joined online. The meeting saw intense discussions regarding the absence of the Indian team from the current tournament, with Pakistan raising concerns about the lack of reciprocity in sports diplomacy.
Pakistan highlighted the issue of India denying the Pakistani blind cricket team a visa in 2022, which resulted in Pakistan’s inability to participate in the Blind Cricket World Cup. The country also stressed that India’s refusal to send its team this year to Pakistan had further disrupted the ongoing tournament.
In light of the persistent political tensions between the two nations, the WBCC decided that, until the situation improves, international events involving both Pakistan and India would be held at neutral venues to avoid any further disruptions.
Additionally, Pakistan's Syed Sultan Shah has been re-elected as the president of the World Blind Cricket Council for the next three years.
