Mercedes, despite a winless 2023 season, remains optimistic about their chances in 2024. Technical director James Allison revealed that the team is determined to compete for both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, unveiling an ambitious program for the new W15 chassis.
However, Jake Dennis, who piloted the RB20 car in the opening practice session at the 2023 season finale, anticipates Red Bull's continued dominance in the upcoming season. Dennis cited the team's swift transition to the new RB21 after the Singapore Grand Prix as a key factor in their favor.
“We’ve got an extremely fast race car again at the Red Bull team," Dennis stated. "I would expect us to become Champions again, unless someone like Ferrari or Mercedes somehow manages to find about a second [per lap] overnight. I think it’s going to be quite a dull season in Formula 1 with Max probably dominating."
Dennis, balancing his role at Red Bull with racing in Formula E, expressed optimism that Verstappen's dominance in F1 could attract more fans to the electric racing series, known for its close competition and exciting racing experiences.
“It’s so dominant from Max right now, it really brings new viewers to Formula E," Dennis noted. "We have a championship which is extremely difficult and close, with 20 cars within two or three seconds on certain tracks, so it’s a lot more exciting and a lot more enjoyable for the fans."
