ISLAMABAD: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is expected to visit Pakistan before December 31, with hopes of finalizing major investment and defense agreements.
According to Foreign Office sources, the exact dates of his visit are yet to be confirmed, but preparations are already underway by both countries’ foreign ministries. Officials said the visit this year is certain.
During the trip, Saudi Arabia is likely to announce $5 billion in new investments in Pakistan. Progress is also expected on agreements signed last year in October, which had faced delays.
The visit comes shortly after Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a landmark defense pact, declaring that aggression against one country would be considered aggression against both. In this context, new agreements on defense production may also be signed, alongside investments in agriculture, industry, and information technology.
This will be Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s first visit to Pakistan since the historic defense deal. He has previously visited Pakistan once before. During his stay, he will meet with Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership to discuss trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
Saudi Arabia remains Pakistan’s close ally and has always supported the country in difficult times. It is also home to the largest number of overseas Pakistanis, whose remittances play a vital role in Pakistan’s economy.
