Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the efforts of Field Marshal Asim Munir and his team in the fight against terrorism, calling their contributions commendable.
Speaking during a federal cabinet meeting, he also acknowledged the great sacrifices made by the security forces. Prayers were offered in the meeting for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks and for those who lost their lives in the recent rains.
The Prime Minister mentioned that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had a successful visit to the United States and met with the US Secretary of State. He said that due to the professional expertise of the armed forces, Pakistan achieved a historic victory against India. Field Marshal Asim Munir led from the front and performed exceptionally well.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that this victory brought honor to Pakistan, and the world was astonished by the skillful execution against India. He emphasized that the defeat of India is still being talked about today and praised the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and the impressive performance of the Air Force.
He stated that the entire nation stood united in facing the enemy. Referring to the situation in Gaza, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the atrocities being committed are unmatched in history and that no amount of condemnation is enough. He added that the condition of children in Gaza is unbearable and that emergency aid is being sent through Egypt and Jordan.
Speaking about the damage caused by heavy rains, the Prime Minister said that various parts of the country have suffered significantly. He mentioned that floods occurred in areas including Diamer and other parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, and that regions in Punjab, Sindh, and hilly areas were also affected.
He appreciated the revolutionary steps taken in the energy sector and praised the efforts of Energy Minister Owais Leghari and his team. He highlighted that positive negotiations with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) resulted in savings of billions of rupees for the national treasury. Losses of electricity distribution companies have also been reduced.
The Prime Minister expressed his happiness over the revolutionary changes at Lahore Railway Station, noting that the railway ticketing system has now been fully digitized.
