On Tuesday, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in combating drug smuggling and addressing shared security concerns.
The development took place during a high-level meeting in Riyadh between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Saudi counterpart Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif. Both leaders discussed mutual security interests and emphasized strengthening cooperation in these areas.
Abdulaziz welcomed Naqvi and his delegation, assuring Saudi Arabia's continued support for Pakistan. In response, Naqvi acknowledged the deep religious and fraternal ties between the two countries, stating, “Saudi Arabia has always stood by Pakistan in challenging times, and we deeply value this partnership.”
The Pakistani delegation included Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, DG Passports and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Qazi, and Additional Secretary of Interior Riffat Mukhtar Raja, while senior Saudi officials, including Deputy Interior Minister Nasser Al-Dawood and Director of Public Security Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami, were also present.
Both sides reiterated their resolve to strengthen collaboration on counter-narcotics and other mutual areas of interest, further solidifying the longstanding strategic partnership.
During his visit, Naqvi toured the Safe City Centre and Public Security Police Headquarters in Riyadh, where he reviewed advanced technological systems used for crime prevention.
Naqvi also met with Saudi Minister of State for Interior Dr. Khalid Mohammed Abdullah Al Battal to discuss matters of mutual interest and Pak-Saudi relations. Both sides agreed to activate a joint task force for public security at the earliest.
