Lahore is about to introduce Pakistan’s first fleet of AI-powered vehicles to fight smog and air pollution. The Punjab Environment Department has completed testing, and 15 vehicles are ready to begin work this month.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to officially launch these new environmental vehicles later this month. This move is part of the government’s larger plan to improve air quality and deal with increasing environmental issues in the city.
Engineers are giving the final touches to the vehicles before they are sent to major areas in Lahore that face the most pollution.

These dust suppression vehicles come with smart technology, including artificial intelligence and satellite connections. They can spray water as far as 120 meters into the air to settle dust, which is a big cause of smog. What makes them even more advanced is that they can detect high pollution levels and start working automatically. They also have real-time air quality monitors to track the conditions around them.
According to the Environment Department, this is the first time such a smart system is being used in Pakistan. It reflects Punjab’s move toward using technology to handle environmental problems. Officials believe these vehicles will be very helpful in reducing dust in the air, especially during the worst smog seasons.
