KARACHI: Pakistani athlete Zainuddin Tareen won gold medal in the 4th Asia IKD Karate Championship in the under-18 age category.
He brought pride to Pakistan by defeating Tajikistan in the quarter-finals, Iraq in the semi-finals, and Iran in the final.
The championship, held in Isfahan, Iran, concluded. A total of 11 Asian countries participated, including Pakistan, Iraq, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Oman, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, Indonesia, and the host country, Iran.
Around 80 international, Asian, and national referees were involved. Pakistan's national karate team, led by IKD Pakistan President Jalaluddin Tareen, competed in the event.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Javelin Thrower Arshad Nadeem pledged to make his nation proud as he prepares for the final of the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.
The 27-year-old secured his place in the Javelin Throw final with an 86.59-meter throw in his first qualification attempt on Tuesday.
“I want to make Pakistan proud in the Olympic Games,” Arshad said.
Defending champion India’s Neeraj Chopra also advanced to the final with a remarkable 89.34-meter throw in his first attempt.
“I hope Neeraj Chopra and I will make our respective countries proud. Neeraj Chopra is a good friend, and we will focus on the final round,” he added.
