ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder and his wife Bushra Bibi have challenged their conviction in the £190 million case in the Islamabad High Court(IHC).
Appeals against the sentences handed down by the trial court in the £190 million case on behalf of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were filed in the Islamabad High Court by Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry.
In the appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, it has been argued that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has maliciously misused its powers and hastily convicted on the basis of incomplete investigation.
The appeal said that not getting the text of the agreement from the NCA shows the reluctance of the investigating agency. The investigation involving the NCA officials was not conducted and the prosecution failed to present complete evidence.
In the appeal on behalf of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, they requested the Islamabad High Court to annul the conviction and said that the decision of the High Court Accountability Court on January 17 should be annulled and both of them should be acquitted.
Earlier, an accountability court in Islamabad convicted the former prime minister and the former first lady in the £190 million case.
