The actress then shared that, at the time, she believed her dignity as an actor was at stake, but felt powerless to change her situation.
Even her representatives, who handled her career during “We Bought a Zoo”, failed to steer her away from such roles. Instead, they simply responded to the industry's long-standing norms, accepting the way things had always worked.
According to the actress from “The Prestige”, the moment a woman wears what she wants and expresses herself freely, she suddenly finds herself thinking, “Wait, I feel like I’m being—” though she hesitated to use the word “exploited,” calling it too severe.
